The World Governing Doctrines

The Best Lifestyle Theory & Practical - Lord Buddha Teachings No: 01 - The World Governing Doctrines - Shame
Shame
Fear

Eventually, The Civilized society is governed by two important factors called “World Governing Doctrines”. Those are
                       01. Shame
                       02. Fear
The Buddhist society knew those two doctrines already. But for the sake of the whole world, I would like to explain these two words in layman language. First, we’ll try to understand the word “Doctrine”. Because you will find this word throughout the whole journey of understanding The Best Life Style Practises.

The Word “Doctrine” means taught principles or positions, as the essence of teachings in a belief system. The word “Fear” is used in layman language as the most general term and implies anxiety and usually loss of courage. Lastly, the word “Shame” means an unpleasant self-conscious emotion typically associated with a negative evaluation of the self.

Certainly, one may think and ask this is very simple and it is already in the society. Of course, there is nothing especially Lord Buddha to teach us? Am I Right? yes exactly. But Lord Buddha specially taught us to shame & fear on 5 precepts, then 8 precepts, again 10 precepts as laymen. What are those? and Why those? for what purpose? Let’s dig in.

Observing "Sila"
Mind and Mindfulness
"Samadhi" Result of Meditation
"Pragna" Improved Mental Status

Lord Buddha’s Three Fold Training

But, before that again you need to know another three main doctrines named
01. Shila – Sīla, (Pāli), Sanskrit śīla, in Buddhism, morality, or right conduct. Sīla comprises three stages along with the Eightfold Path right speech, right action, and right livelihood. Laymen are to observe the first five precepts (pañca-sīla) at all times

02. Samadhi – Samadhi (Sanskrit: समाधि), in Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and yogic schools, is a state of meditative consciousness. In the yogic traditions and the Buddhist commentarial tradition on which the Burmese Vipassana movement and the Thai Forest tradition rely, It is a meditative absorption or trance, attained by the practice of dhyāna. In the oldest Buddhist suttas, on which several contemporary western Theravada teachers rely, It refers to the development of a luminous mind which is equanimous and mindful.

03. Pragna – Prajñā (Sanskrit) or paññā (Pāli), is a Buddhist term often translated as “wisdom”, “intelligence”, or “understanding”. In the context of Buddhist meditation, It is the ability to understand the three characteristics of all things: anicca (impermanence), dukkha (dissatisfaction or suffering), and anattā (non-self).

All the Buddha teachings are directed to control and prevent wrong actions from occurring from our mind, our body, and our words. Certainly, we cannot control thoughts occurring from the mind from time to time in different ways at once. But, if someone carefully concentrates on thoughts he can control the actions occurring from thoughts through body and words. Hope you got the point.

The Great teacher, my Lord Buddha taught us to control unlawful, unwholesome, demerit, devalue acts. The acts first occur in your thoughts because of previous “Karma” and eventually put them into practice. When we use the word “Body” means your whole body including hands, legs, Eyes, Eyers, Nose, Tongue, and skin.

Why Lord Buddha wanted to control our evil acts?

Lord Buddha understood, with his supreme wisdom, people were persuaded to suffer in Samsara because of the evil acts. Not only that, Buddha taught about the 31 levels in this Universe. Eventually, All creatures including humans continuously have a journey of samsara, life afterlife. This is happening according to their karmic actions until they attained Nibbana. My Lord find the way to stop this sorrowful endless journey and taught us to follow the same and find our eternal freedom.

Why do we need to stop this journey? Because we do not know the next destination after this life. It is decided by the karma. It may be Goast world, Beast world, Heaven or Hell. This samsara danger Lord Buddha identified with his Supreme Wisdom. Each millisecond our next berth decides according to our thoughts. Only the Lord Buddha’s Supreme Wisdom can identify this very complicated samsara journey. That is why we called Lord Buddha “Sarwagna” which means Knowing everything about all the worlds, Universe, and beyond that as well..

    • Now that you know we have actions done according to the thoughts occurring using our body, mind and words.
    • According to those karmic actions your next birth place will decide
    • If your actions are good then you have 27 somewhat comfort levels and for the bad actions 4 suffering levels
    • Lord Buddha taught us how to escape from those bad 4 levels until we attained Nibbana.
    • That is where above we discussed “Sila” comes into place

Sila

Sila (virtue, moral conduct) is the cornerstone upon which the entire Noble Eightfold Path is built. The practice of sila is defined by the middle three factors of the Eightfold Path: Right Speech, Right Action, and Right Livelihood.
Practicing Buddhists voluntarily undertake a particular set of training rules appropriate to their life situation:

01. Laymen and women observe the Five Precepts (pañca-sila)
02. Laymen and women doing intensive meditation practice (as on Uposatha    days) observe the Eight Precepts (atthe-sila)
03. Novice monks (samanera) and nuns (samaneri) observe the Ten Precepts  (Dasa-sila)
04. A fully-ordained monk (bhikkhu) follows the 227 rules of the Bhikkhu Patimokkha; a nun (bhikkhuni) would follow the 311 rules of the Bhikkhuni Patimokkha.

5 Precepts

As a practical guide for laypeople, the Buddha gave five moral precepts (pañca-sīla, also translatable as the five virtues). The Buddha advised us to obey and follow these precepts according to our heart consciousness. You are the only witness to your acts. You can hide from the whole world but you cannot hide from your heart’s consciousness. To be honest to yourself not for any other of this world

 Karma

In our step-by-step guide, we will discuss how the krama creates and reacts by creating the future karma and how to react to those karmic results experienced now.

For the time being, just follow the rules while you understand the whole process. Keep the trust in Lord Buddha’s words preached for us with compassion on us. In this life, each thought occurs due to your previous births’ actions only. No one is responsible for what you are experiencing now. People may give many explanations with their 60 to 80 years experience and knowledge. But Lord Buddha advised us not to blame anybody for what we are experiencing now.

It is totally because of your previous actions or reasons now you are undergoing the current situation or results. In Buddhism, it is called “Patichchasamuthpada”. The Cause and the effects of each thought occurred in your mind.

In our Samsara journey to avoid sorrowfulness or bad results or bad Karma Lord Buddha asked us to observe “Sila”. In layman words Sila is Kind of a rules that you need to avoid or prevent in your lives. Let’s get into understand Sila.
01. The 05 precepts
02. The 08 precepts
03. The 10 precepts.

Buddha asks us to shame & fear to do those five precepts. Because those 5 karmic acts take you to one of the bad 4 levels where you end up with long-term suffering life.
